Key West sunset

As I sat on the beach Saturday night, I wondered if anyone had ever taken a picture of the sunset from Key West. HA! Of course I'm joking - as the sun sank I was 1 of maybe 50 or so others on the beach all trying for that perfect picture. That's not counting the hundreds of people at Mallory Square enjoying the same sunset, or all the others on the catamarans passing back and forth.

I probably took 40 or so pics (clearly I had nothing better to do), and I have to think at least one of them is close to perfect. If not there's always tomorrow night to try again.

Movie: Into The Wild

I rented the movie Into The Wild last night and can't stop thinking about it. So much so that today I bought both the movie and the book. The fact that it's based on a true story is hard to believe - yet at the same time believable, because so many of us can relate to the angst that defines the plot. It's a great tale of wanderlust and soul-searching, and of challenging one's self to test the limits of our own inner strength. With much focus on the established social need for human interaction and relationships vs the need to explore the land and the soul as an individual, it speaks very loudly to anyone who's ever wondered what (and who) they're capable of living with, and without.

After graduating college, the main character donates his life's savings to charity, leaves behind his family and secretly embarks on a journey of discovery and endurance. From Virginia to Alaska, and seemingly every state in between, it's a journey that affects many lives along the way. Mine included.
